For a long time, Shanghai’s mothers have been gathering at the famous People’s Park in order to find an eligible match for their child. The Marriage Market by the park operates only on weekends and attracts hundreds of parents who want to get rid of their kids and see them settled.
How’s the market working? Nothing weird or illegal: parents post a bio with essential details of their unwed child. Other parents skim-through the bios and write down relevant details? From there you can imagine what will happen next: a phone call, the first date…we’ve all been there.
